Do you have friends from other countries?

Hey guys! Do you have friends from another countries that you may consult when in doubt about English grammar or any idiomatic usage, etc.?
If yes, how did you know them and how often do you keep in touch?
Besides, are there any popular channels, like overseas forums, through which I can exchange opinions with foreigners, and hence get a glimpse of their thinking and ideologies?

Well, your English is great!  I don't think you need to specifically find foreign friends just to focus on the "English language part".   That will get better and better as you use it more and more.   All you need to do is go on ahead and use English for everything just like any native speakers do, and your English will correct itself.

You can start expanding and deepening your existing hobbies/interests/talents such as arts & crafts/cooking & baking/musical instruments/sports/gardening..etc by using English to research and meet people as well as exchanging experiences with them, even just over the internet.

You got the point but sadly I don't think I have found anything I am particularly interested or specialized in, except for the "English language part". I have been loving English since I was in primary school because this is the subject where I got the best results in class. During high school I tried to practice English speaking by talking to my friends in that language, but people thought I was weird or just showing off, and they didn't want to pay extra efforts to understand what I said, and this is still the case for today. That's why I think having a foreign friend is vitally important in order to improve my English.

Hi there,
I do have friends from other countries, but they cannot help me when I have language problems, as they're not native English speakers themselves.

I currently live in the U.S., where I have been for the past 20 years (give or take a few times I went back home - Taiwan)

All throughout my school years, I encounter various people from different ethnic groups. Italy, France, India, Holland, Denmark... etc. However, I do have a friend who is now an English professor. Used to be a colleague of mine. So if I have any questions regarding the use of grammar, I can always hit her up.

The easy way to build up your language ability is to have an immersion trip to foreign countries, such as getting yourself in some short course classes at a language school,  to use the language in daily interaction in life, and at the same time to understand the culture and have fun.  

Same for learning Japanese and French.  
Taking French as an example.  People in Europe know several languages.  In the French class in France, you will likely to meet people from other part of Europe, for example swedish.  They speak French fluently, but they have difficulties in essay writing and grammar issues.  That  kind of class allows you to have a good verbal discussion on topics, especially for people from Asia normally lack of daily verbal interaction in foreign languages.

Now, its a generally a pretty good idea to consult your friends when you are in doubt of your grammar (please don't worry much about idioms), However, it is wise to directly refer to your teacher, (well probably cause they are qualified to teach, duh) then just relying on your friends, regardless of whether they are foreigners or not...

Look, being a foreigner does not neccessarily mean that one will have good knowledge of grammatical patterns or just the English language in general... I can almost guarantee you that because I've been in Australia for quite a while now, and, quite surprisingly, I actually do better in English than most of my Non-Asian friends (given that I'm Chinese and I wasn't born Australia)

I was just starting to learn English. My friends and my family helped me to learn English. They checked my work and answered my questions. My teachers were very kind and helpful when I didn't understand something.
